| Brand Hall Gold Vase - Club Team Handicap Competition |
| Played at Fulford Heath Golf Club Thursday 4th August 2011 |
|
Best 4 Nett Scores from Team of 5 - 18 Hole Strokeplay Medal off Full handicap
|

Past President, Norman Bolton, Jon Thompson, Callum Hutchinson and Barry Drew, Fulford Heath Captain
Fulford Heath hosted their second County event of the week and again provided an excellent venue with great hospitality in the clubhouse and a testing course with true greens at a good speed.
The weather forecast was dire and although there was prolonged rain before lunch, the weather cleared later. The flight system of the draw ensured each team suffered the bad conditions equally.
The weather and quality of the greens led to some long rounds and high scores, with the CSS reflecting this by going up from 70 to 73. However best score on the day was Rob Howarth, Fulford Heath, who had 68 Gross.
The Best Nett score on the day was Callum Hutchinson, Kidderminster, 73 - 6 = 67. Runner Up Nett was Mike Daw, North Worcestershire, with 73 - 4 = 69.
Two teams tied on 294 for Runner up spot in the team event. The countback in this situation compares the scores of the fifth player in each team, as a result Fulford Heath took the prizes from Rose Hill.
However The Brand Hall Gold Vase, the county's only solid gold trophy, was won convincingly by Kidderminster with their best four scores totalling 282 and a comfortable 12 stroke margin.
Thanks go to the competitors, who with one exception all made it to the first tee on time!
Thanks also to club/team organisers. Our sport relies on quality volunteers, on this occasion providing good co-ordination to get 115 players to the event. This is no mean task and there were several late changes to teams. I congratulate all concerned in helping to make this a very easy event to run.
Mention must also be made of the County Referees who were helping players throughout the day. Thanks to Past Presidents Roy Hobbis and Norman Bolton for their skills as Starters, although Norman did show an uncanny knack of only being on duty when there was a complete absence of rain!
Finally Brenda Smith continued her long running support for the County with an appearance on reception and scoring. It is slightly shrouded in mystery as to which is the longer, the Queen's reign or Brenda's County involvement.

County Secretary
