Worcestershire’s 2012 County Card Scheme

The website, on which the new application system for the 2012 Worcestershire County Card is based, is now ready to go live.

We are only weeks away from cards being delivered to clubs for collection by any member who wishes to join the County Card Scheme.

Posters will be going to clubs to explain the collection arrangements at each club.

The target now is for cards to be delivered to clubs for members to collect early June.

Each card will have a 2012 year date printed on it, for future years we shall send a year date sticker to be applied over the year date

We are following the original plan, of producing credit card sized plastic County Cards with the Card Holder’s name and CDH Number printed on the England Golf - Members Benefit Card on one side of the plastic, The County Card printed on the other side.

Ladies are included in the new scheme but the delivery of their cards will be a bit later

Having agreed that members of participating clubs can have a County Card at no cost, the Union has implemented a system to bridge the period until the new cards are delivered, this bridging arrangement can be used by both ladies and men.

If possible I would like to keep the supply of these temporary Cards to a minimum, to those players needing to use one, say in the next four weeks, however I certainly do not wish to impede any members’ enjoyment of County Card usage.

To provide the same level of security as the full system, the cards sent to clubs will require the addition of the name of the player and his CDH number.

For 2011 Card Holders, where I had an e-mail address, which I had for the majority, I have already sent them a message which they can print off, extending the validity of their 2011 membership.

For club members just joining, who may wish to join the scheme, now that the County Card is available at no extra charge, there will be an on-line application process to get a card delivered at no cost.

Having taken the decision to implement the new system in October last year I am very disappointed we have had to introduce this stop-gap measure. The reason is the priorities facing England Golf following the merger of the EGU and EWGA.

We were one of four pilot counties to recognise the improvements offered by the new system:-

A quality membership card

Based on name and CDH number to identify club membership

A process which required no input from club or county to produce each card

A target 10 day turn round from application to delivery

Delivery of the County Card to the player’s home address

I will keep you informed of the timetable to go live with what should, eventually, be a first class process for all members.

The Scheme has expanded again this year to give fantastic value to the members of those clubs who have joined the scheme.

32 counties now reciprocate, allowing you to visit 1265 golf clubs in England.

The new Counties this year are our neighbours Shropshire & Herefordshire.

As part of the negotiation with our clubs the 2012 Worcestershire card will be provided at no cost to the members of clubs included in the scheme!
