The 2010 Seniors Match Play Championship was won by Lawrence Hawker ( Kings Norton G.C.)

It seems to be a long time since this Championship was first started but after a number of delays and organisational difficulties the final was contested between Lawrence Hawker ( KNGC) and Wil Painter ( Kidderminster G.C) at Kings Norton Golf  Club.

On a cold, blustery, Autumn day the two finalists traded holes through the front nine to reach the turn all square.  Lawrence, on his home course, managed to find his touch on the greens and started to edge ahead by the 13th. Battling all the way to hold off a spirited fight back from Wil, Lawrence held his nerve and played some solid shots through the difficult 6th, 7th and 8th Red holes. This was enough to secure a fine victory by 2 &1 and take the Seniors Match Play Championship for 2010.

It was great to see Roy Hobbis, a Worcestershire Past President, walking the course and refereeing this final.
